Product Care & Maintenance

Your screen is a combination of many different materials. It, therefore, will be susceptible to normal wear and tear from the environment. Dirt, grime, airborne pollutants, and salt deposits can affect the performance and appearance of retractable insect screens. Therefore we have comprised a list of maintenance and listed them below. Failure to follow this could contain the warranty of your screen.

The screens must be clean at frequent intervals. Failure to carry out regular maintenance may exclude the application of the warranty. The frequency of cleaning will depend on where the screens are installed.

  • Mild-Rural and domestic areas, minimum every six months
  • Moderate-Cities and light industrial areas, minimum every three months
  • Severe-Coastal and heavy industrial areas, minimum every month

The mesh can be cleaned using a soft brush or soft brush vacuum on a low suction setting. Should the mesh become soiled, only clean with water with no chemical additives.

IMPORTANT: Under no circumstances should you use steel wool, scourer pads, abrasive-based cleaners, scouring liquids or powders, or acidic solutions, as these will cause permanent damage to the mesh and comprise the warranty of your screen.

Screen tracks can be cleaned by vacuum or wipe down with cloths to remove contaminated deposits on the trail.

Use furniture polish (Mr. Sheen/ Pledge) to clean the track every two weeks to keep the screen doors sliding smoothly after vacuum.

IMPORTANT: It is important to retract the pleated insect screen when not in use to maintain the screens pleated. If the pleated screen becomes deformed, spray water on the mesh, return the screen into the handle, and leave it to dry, this will help reform the pleated shape.
